The Yogi & Yogini copper bottle combines the health benefits of the ancient Indian healing art of Ayurveda with a beautiful, detailed etched floral pattern. This bottle is made from 99.9% pure copper (Tamba) in India and is the ideal choice for storing pure drinking water in style. According to a tradition dating back over 2000 years, water stored in a copper bottle is said to harmonise the three doshas (Vata, Kappa, Pitta) in the body.
Copper vessels naturally oxidise, which leads to discolouration or dark spots. This oxidation process is unavoidable and does not affect the function of the copper. Dark spots often appear over time, particularly on the inside of copper bottles or jugs, which often remain untreated. These can be easily cleaned with a mixture of citric acid and water. Cleaning every two weeks or when visible stains appear is sufficient, as copper has an antibacterial effect.
The outside of copper vessels is often varnished to protect against oxidation. However, this varnish can be damaged by scratches, causing the copper to oxidise and darken in these areas. Lemon juice and salt can be used to remove these stains. It is important to treat copper vessels with care, as they are not dishwasher-safe and the coating can be damaged by friction or impact. In general, copper care is easy as long as you clean the material regularly and handle it with care.
