The Hofmann reagent is a basic test agent for determining DMT and LSD. Like the Ehrlich reagent, it reacts with a group of substances known as indoles. These include all lysergamides and tryptamines.
The chemical reaction with Hofmann's reagent is usually slower, but produces more distinct and clearer colours. This allows for a more reliable assessment of the test result.
