This Yogi & Yogini copper cup combines the traditional benefits of Ayurveda with the deep symbolism of the Tree of Life. It is made from 99.9% pure copper (Tamba) in India and, according to the 2000-year-old healing art, is ideal for storing drinking water with copper to balance the three doshas (Vata, Kappa, Pitta) in the body.
Copper vessels naturally oxidise, which leads to discolouration or dark spots. This oxidation process is unavoidable and does not affect the function of the copper. Dark spots often appear over time, particularly on the inside of copper bottles or jugs, which often remain untreated. These can be easily cleaned with a mixture of citric acid and water. Cleaning every two weeks or when visible stains appear is sufficient, as copper has an antibacterial effect.
The outside of copper vessels is often varnished to protect against oxidation. However, this varnish can be damaged by scratches, causing the copper to oxidise and darken in these areas. Lemon juice and salt can be used to remove these stains. It is important to treat copper vessels with care, as they are not dishwasher-safe and the coating can be damaged by friction or impact. In general, copper care is easy as long as you clean the material regularly and handle it with care.
