Root Pouch is in a novel, innovative plant pot: Good for the environment and twice as good for the plant that can grow in it.
"Pouch" means bag or bag.
In our "root bag" roots feel as comfortable as a young kangaroo in its mothers bag.
Root Pouch was developed to support fast and healthy plant growth. It ensures efficient use of water and nutrients. For plant breeding, this means fast, efficient and resource-saving work.
At the same time, Root Pouch protects the environment because it is made from 100% recycled raw materials.
The plant only absorbs nutrients via the fine root hairs at the tip of the root. An increase in the number of root tips and an even distribution of these in the entire substrate are therefore essential for optimized water and nutrient absorption.
In comparison: Even a 10m long ring root has only one root tip, and this is usually located right at the edge of the plastic and clay pot. So ring root formation is really the worst thing that can happen to a plant.
How does Root Pouch work?
The root tips get caught in the net-like surface ( root trapping ).
So the roots neither grow through unhindered nor can they avoid the obstacle. This prevents the undesired formation of ring roots. The single root does not grow further in length, but branches out and forms new fine roots. This leads to a fine root system with a multiple of root tips. The healthy and fast growth of the plant is promoted.
Is that all? - Certainly not.
Root Pouch increases the growth rate after repotting and planting in the soil.
The better utilisation of the pot volume enables longer standing times.
Root Pouch has an air-conditioning effect: in winter, the textile properties of the fabric protect the roots like a blanket.
In summer, the open porosity of the fabric allows a higher degree of evaporation and cools the substrate.
The material is washable, sterilizable and reusable.
